About This Design

We designed this laundry nook around navy shaker cabinetry set into a hallway alcove, balancing the depth of the color with a full marble slab backsplash and warm bronze hardware. The recessed layout keeps the adjacent open-plan living area uninterrupted.
Design Tip
Paint the interior walls of a laundry alcove the same color as your cabinetry to make the recess read as one cohesive built-in. Navy side walls here dissolve the boundary between cabinet face and wall.

We tucked the washer and dryer into an existing hallway recess and used the full height of the alcove for upper and lower cabinet runs. The side walls were painted to match the cabinet color, making the nook read as a single built-in unit.
