Wood slat dividers separate dining zones on checker floors. Dome pendants, trailing plants.
Design Palette
Floor-to-ceiling vertical wood slat screens divide the room while.
About This Design
We used vertical wood slat screens as architectural dividers that separate zones without blocking sightlines or airflow. The black and white checkerboard marble floor anchors the room with graphic energy, while natural wood tables and wishbone chairs keep the seating warm and approachable. Trailing greenery along the overhead structure softens the geometry and adds a living layer between the dark ceiling and bright floor.
Design Tip
Space wood slats at roughly two-inch gaps to maintain visual privacy between dining zones while allowing natural light and conversation to pass through. This ratio creates a sense of enclosure without claustrophobia. Mount trailing plants along the top rail so greenery cascades naturally between slats.

Spatial Approach
Vertical wood slat partitions stand between table groups at head height, providing acoustic separation and visual privacy without reaching the ceiling. The black-and-white checkerboard floor grounds the warm wood tones above, and black dome pendants drop low over each table to create individual pools of light within the larger room.
Best For
Bistros, farm-to-table restaurants, or coworking cafes that need defined seating zones without permanent walls. The semi-open partitions suit operators who want to reconfigure the floor plan seasonally.
