About This Design

Warm Transitional

Natural oak is used throughout so the wood grain provides all the texture the room needs. The island shares the same oak as the perimeter, with open shelf bays on the seating side to lighten the visual weight. White plaster hood, white countertops, and black window frames complete the composition.

Design Tip

When using a single wood species, vary the application rather than the material. Oak appears as flat cabinet panels, horizontal shelf surfaces, and open bays with visible end grain. Each reads differently without needing a second material.

Spatial Approach

Perimeter cabinets wrap three walls with the island centered facing the window wall. Open shelf bays on the island face the dining side, keeping the cooking side clear. The glazed door at right connects to a pantry or utility room.

Best For

Clients who prefer natural material-forward kitchens where wood grain is the primary design statement. Works in homes with high ceilings and large windows where oak reads in full natural light. Suits those who want a kitchen that ages gracefully.
