About This Design

Urban Natural

We designed this tea shop to feel like a bright urban retreat where natural materials soften the city backdrop visible through large windows. Rattan drum pendants and trailing plants bring organic texture, while green metal bar stools at the window counter create a casual perch for city watching. The gray fluted wainscoting grounds the lower walls and lets the upper shelf display of plants and art tell the story.

Design Tip

Position bar-height counter seating along the window wall to maximize city views and natural light. Use fluted wainscoting below a display shelf to protect walls from chair scuffs while creating a natural ledge for plants and decor. Keep the palette to three materials: wood, rattan, and metal.

Spatial Approach

A window-facing bar counter along the left wall captures the city skyline view for solo customers, while small two-top tables fill the center floor for pairs. Rattan drum pendants and a floating wood shelf with trailing plants run the back wall, creating a layered backdrop that adds depth to what is otherwise a compact rectangular room.

Best For

Tea shops, specialty coffee spots, or small-format cafes in high-rise or urban settings where window views are an asset. The compact layout maximizes seats per square foot for high-rent locations.
