About This Design
Classic Transitional
We built the entire landing around two anchor elements: a white floor-to-ceiling bookshelf wrapping the far wall and sage painted wainscoting panels running through landing and hallway. Iron rod balusters with an oak cap rail bridge the two materials. Landscape art with dedicated picture lights gives the circulation space curatorial attention.
Design Tip
Carry your wainscoting color from the stair landing straight into the connecting hallway without interruption. The continuous panel line makes both spaces read as one designed zone rather than two separate areas.

The bookshelf occupies the full dead-end wall of the landing, turning a typically wasted corner into the focal point. The wainscoting leads the eye laterally down the corridor, so the landing functions as both a visual terminus and a directional gateway.
