About This Design
Contemporary Classic
This kitchen centers on the dramatic marble waterfall island with bold veining. We kept cabinets simple in white with brass hardware to let the marble be the star. The wood slat divider on the left adds warmth and separates the kitchen from the living area without blocking light. Simple wood stools provide seating without visual weight.
Design Tip
When using dramatic veined marble, keep all other finishes simple. The stone should be the only pattern in the space to avoid visual competition. Light-colored stone reflects overhead lighting, making even compact kitchens feel open.

Spatial Approach
A marble waterfall peninsula divides the kitchen from an adjacent room, with two wooden stools tucked underneath for quick meals. White shaker cabinets wrap the back wall with a subway tile backsplash, and a vertical wood-slat accent panel on the left wall introduces warmth next to the all-white surfaces. The peninsula's L-shape creates a contained work triangle between stove, sink, and refrigerator while keeping the cook connected to the adjoining space.

Small to mid-sized kitchens in apartments or townhouses where a full island would block circulation. The peninsula provides counter seating and extra prep surface without requiring a separate dining table, making it practical for one or two people who cook frequently but have limited square footage.
