Natural oak cabinetry with glass-front uppers and integrated LED backlighting

About This Design

Modern Organic

This kitchen maximizes natural light with glass-front upper cabinets and LED backlighting. We chose natural oak for all cabinetry to create warmth, then added a white marble island for contrast. The black cone pendants and metal bar stools provide just enough edge to keep it from feeling too soft. The waterfall edge on the island creates a clean, continuous line that grounds the space, while open shelving breaks up the cabinetry and adds a casual, lived-in quality.

Design Tip

Add LED strip lighting inside glass-front cabinets to create ambiance and make glassware sparkle. It turns storage into display. Let your island countertop overhang by 12 inches on one side for casual seating and conversation.

Spatial Approach

A wide U-shaped counter wraps three walls with flat-panel oak cabinets, and a large island with a reeded wood base and quartz waterfall top holds four stools along its length. Black metal-framed glass display cabinets flank the window above the sink, breaking up the solid wood with transparency and adding a layer of depth. Two oversized black cone pendants hang low over the island to define the eating zone within the open floor plan.

Best For

Households that need serious counter and storage capacity for daily cooking, with enough island seating to replace a separate breakfast table. The mix of natural oak and black metal hardware suits homeowners who lean modern but want the kitchen to feel warm rather than clinical.
