Kitchen Design Ideas
Kitchen design starts with the layout. These projects show how cabinet configuration, island placement, and appliance spacing create kitchens that actually work for daily cooking, not just photographs.
Browse galley kitchens, L-shapes with peninsulas, and full islands with seating. Each project includes a floor plan, cabinet elevation drawings, and material specifications you can share with your contractor.

Kitchen Layout Tips
Keep the Work Triangle Tight
Sink, stove, and fridge should form a triangle with sides of 4-9 feet each. Wider than 9 feet and you are walking too far between tasks. Our floor plans optimize this for your exact kitchen shape.
Add Counter Space Next to the Stove
You need at least 15 inches of landing space on both sides of the cooktop. This is where hot pots go. Without it, you are carrying pans across the kitchen, which is a safety issue, not just a design one.
Choose Cabinets Before Countertops
Cabinet color and style set the tone. A busy countertop (veined marble) needs simple cabinets (solid shaker). A bold cabinet color (navy, forest green) needs a quieter stone. Pick one to be the star.
Plan Island Clearance First
An island needs 42 inches of clearance on all sides for one person, 48 inches if two people cook simultaneously. If your kitchen is under 12 feet wide, an island will block traffic.
Planning Guide
Kitchen Planning Factors
Renovation vs. Cosmetic Refresh
Moving plumbing or gas lines doubles the cost. A refresh (new fronts, hardware, countertops, backsplash) can transform a kitchen at a fraction of the price. We design for both scopes.
Cabinet Storage Priorities
Drawers below the counter are more accessible than lower cabinets with shelves. Pull-out trays, lazy Susans, and vertical dividers make corner cabinets usable. We specify the interior hardware, not just the fronts.
Backsplash Height and Material
Full-height backsplash (counter to ceiling) makes a kitchen feel larger. A 4-inch splash behind the counter is the budget option. We render both so you can compare before committing to tile.
Lighting Zones for Cooking
Under-cabinet lights illuminate your cutting surface. Pendants over the island are decorative, not task lights. Recessed cans fill the rest. We specify all three layers with color temperature (3000K) for kitchens.
