Design Palette

About This Design
We designed this room around two overlapping themes: motorsport and space exploration. The race car bed and checkered floor handle the speed motif at floor level while the rocket-and-planet mural takes over the back wall, giving a boy who loves both racing and the cosmos a room that rewards closer inspection in every direction.
Design Tip
Layer two compatible themes in a boys room by assigning each to a different surface: motorsport lives on the floor and furniture while space takes the back wall mural. Themes reinforce each other when they share a color family, here navy unifies both. Avoid putting competing themes on the same wall or they fight for attention.

Spatial Approach
The race car bed centers on the main wall with the speedometer decal directly above, forming one continuous focal wall. The space mural occupies the perpendicular back wall so it reads as a destination you look toward from the bed rather than a backdrop behind it. The bean bag and toy shelf anchor the far corner as a self-contained play and reading zone.
Best For
Best for boys ages 4 to 10 who love cars, racing, or space. The layout supports a single occupant with clear zones for sleep, play, and toy storage. The foam tile floor handles rough play and the car bed ages two to three years before transitioning to a standard frame.
