Oak slat wainscoting and slate lounge chairs create a sitting moment in the entry

About This Design

Scandinavian Modern

We designed this entry as two connected moments: a sitting nook where oak slat wainscoting and slate lounge chairs create a pause, and a front door vestibule with matte black double doors. The yellow abstract canvas bridges both zones, pulling warmth through the neutral palette.

Design Tip

Treat a wide hallway as two zones rather than one path. Place two chairs at the corridor end to create a destination, and use wall space above wainscoting for one large artwork.

Spatial Approach

The sitting nook is at the far end of the hallway, using the slat half-wall as a visual terminus. The black double doors and vestibule remain distinct but connected through shared oak flooring and white walls.

Best For

Designed for homeowners with a wider hallway who want to activate the entry as a usable room. The sitting nook gives guests a place to pause, and the black double doors make a strong first impression.
