About This Design
Transitional Nursery
We created this room for growing kids who needed storage that would last beyond toddlerhood. The built-in desk and overhead cabinets provide study space and toy storage in one wall. Soft neutrals and a subtle botanical wallpaper keep the room calm enough for sleep but interesting enough for play. Built-in cabinetry along the window wall maximizes storage while keeping the floor clear for play, and the integrated desk grows with the child through school years.
Design Tip
Build storage vertically in kids rooms. Floor-to-ceiling cabinets maximize space without eating into play area, and they grow with the child. Use rounded corners on furniture edges and choose durable, washable fabrics that survive childhood.

Spatial Approach
Built-in cabinetry wraps the left wall from floor to ceiling, combining a wardrobe, overhead storage, and a window-side desk into one continuous millwork unit so the remaining floor area stays clear for play. The bed is pushed against the right wall with a botanical leaf wallpaper accent above, and a lit display niche between desk and bed holds books and plants to separate study from sleep zones without a physical divider.

Families with a child between ages 5 and 12 who need a room that handles homework, storage, and rest in a limited footprint. The neutral cream-and-oak palette is intentionally age-flexible, so the room can grow with the child without a full redesign.
