About This Design

Dark Transitional

We built this suite around the contrast of deep charcoal paneled walls and creamy upholstered surfaces. The floor-to-ceiling channel-tufted headboard reads as a soft architectural element against the dark backdrop, while gold hardware on the walnut nightstands and twisted sconces pull warm tones through the room.

Design Tip

Use a floor-to-ceiling upholstered headboard on a dark wall to create a soft focal point that absorbs color rather than competing with it. Keep bedding pale and textural so the headboard reads as architecture, not furniture.

Spatial Approach

We divided the suite into two zones using a dark vertical slat partition rather than a wall. The sleeping zone is centered and symmetrical with balanced nightstands and sconces. The sitting nook tucks into the corner with a rounded barrel chair and pedestal table, using a mirror to expand perceived depth.

Best For

Designed for homeowners who want a dark paneled primary bedroom that feels like a boutique hotel stay without sacrificing warmth. The charcoal paneling and gold hardware suit new construction, transitional homes, or any renovation targeting a dramatic yet livable primary retreat.
