About This Room Type
Bedroom Design Ideas
A bedroom needs to do three things well: sleep comfortably, store your wardrobe, and look calm when you walk in. These projects show how headboard walls, nightstand proportions, and closet access all work together.
Browse primary suites with sitting areas, compact guest rooms with multi-purpose furniture, and shared bedrooms for siblings. Each project includes a floor plan showing clearances around the bed.

Bedroom Layout Tips
Match Bed Size to Wall Width
A king bed needs at least 12 feet of wall width to fit nightstands on both sides. If your wall is under 11 feet, a queen gives you better proportions and more usable floor space.
Hang Curtains at Ceiling Height
Mounting curtain rods 2-4 inches below the ceiling makes windows (and the room) feel taller. Use panels that just kiss the floor. This one change transforms a standard 8-foot ceiling.
Place the Bed Opposite the Door
The bed should be the first thing you see when entering. Centering it on the wall opposite the door creates symmetry and makes the room feel intentional from the threshold.
Keep Nightstands Proportional
Your nightstand surface should be level with the top of your mattress, give or take 2 inches. Too high or too low makes reaching for a glass of water uncomfortable every single night.
Planning Guide
Key Bedroom Decisions
Primary vs. Guest Purpose
A primary bedroom prioritizes your daily routine: closet access, reading light, phone charging spots. Guest rooms need a luggage surface, extra blankets, and a mirror. Different purposes, different layouts.
Closet Visibility From the Bed
If your closet is open or has glass doors, we design the interior as part of the bedroom aesthetic. Visible closets need consistent shelving, matching hangers, and intentional lighting.
Blackout vs. Sheer Layering
Most bedrooms benefit from double-track curtain rods: sheers for daytime privacy, blackout panels for sleep. We specify hardware and fabric for both layers in every bedroom package.
Desk Integration Without Clutter
If you work from the bedroom, the desk should face away from the bed. A visual divider (bookshelf, curtain, plant) keeps the work zone from bleeding into your sleep space.
