Fluted oak double vanity anchors a warm shiplap feature wall.

About This Design

Modern Farmhouse

We rooted this bathroom in farmhouse tradition with horizontal shiplap and board-and-batten wainscoting, then updated it through fluted oak cabinetry, matte black fixtures, and a round brass mirror. The project presented two full vanity configurations so the client could compare styles against identical finishes.

Design Tip

Pair fluted oak cabinet fronts with a round brass mirror to soften the geometry of a shiplap accent wall. Matte black faucets provide contrast without competing with warm wood tones, keeping the palette cohesive across both vanity options.

Spatial Approach

The vanity zone is separated from the toilet alcove by a partial wall. Shiplap covers the vanity wall while wainscoting frames the toilet niche, creating visual variety in a compact layout.

Best For

Ideal for homeowners deciding between vanity cabinet styles before remodeling. This project shows how a fluted oak and shaker vanity each read against the same shiplap wall, giving clients a clear side-by-side comparison.
